HELP! Enable DMA -> CDRW disappears!!
I received and installed my HP DVD100i, a DVD+RW drive. The installation was unremarkable, I didn't see an option for UDMA, so connected it to a standard drive chain. As was my practice with CD-RW, I gave it the #2 IDE controller all to itself, with a HD and the old DVD read only drive on chain #1.

When trying to save Word XP files to the DVD/CD RW drive I get an error messing stating "The disk is full or too many file are open". The disk is not full and there are no other files open. I have tried using freshly formatted DVD & CD disks with the same result. This does not occur with any other Office XP

Combo DVD CD-RW drives - Anyone making one?
I suppose I can't really talk as I'm buying the M*A*S*H DVD's as they're released, but... *sigh* I still wouldn't pay $500 for something from a company with a lousy rep. Well, I have never had a problem with their Laserjet printers, so I figured maybe it was just their early CD-RW drives that were fscked.

CD and DVD drives appear in My Computer, but unable to read discs
So here it is: any opinions/facts as to who makes the best DVD/CD-RW drives for laptops? I've seen a few on eBay, including what looks like IBM OE units (these are not exactly what you'd call cheap). I've also seen others from Sony (I think) and a few other "no-namers" (selling at comparatively cheap "new" prices).
